Abbey St Bathans - Scottish Borders
A small village situated directly on the Way between Longformacus and Cockburnspath.
Abbey St Bathans is a traditional farming village in a wooded valley about one hour’s drive South East of Edinburgh. Bronze age tools unearthed there indicate the possibility that the area has been in continuous habitation for 4000 years. The locality also contains remains of Edins Hall Broch, about 2000 years old, the foundations of a first millennium Celtic era Christian church and a holy well.

Annan - Dumfries and Galloway
The Royal Burgh of Annan has a population of approximately 10,000. The town was made a Burgh of Barony by the Bruces in the 13th century but the charter document was most probably destroyed during the border wars. The charter was re-erected by King James V in 1538. Each year in July, Annan celebrates the Royal Charter and the boundaries of the Royal Burgh are confirmed when a mounting cavalcade undertakes the Riding of the Marches. Entertainment The Royal Burgh of Annan is the principal town of Annandale & Eskdale and the third largest in Dumfries & Galloway.

Our history in the past 250 years is one of peaceful agricultural development with some shipbuilding, engineering and sandstone quarrying which is reflected in the district's many fine buildings.includes a procession, sports, field displays and massed pipe bands.

Auchencairn - Dumfries and Galloway
The earliest written record referring to Auchencairn is in a charter of Edward I dated 1305. 'Aghencarne' is mentioned among lands pertaining to the Abbey of Dundrennan, along with the "isle of Estholm, Roskerald, Clonsinagh (Glenshinnoch), Barlockwood and Barlock".Auchencairn is a traditional Scottish village consisting mainly of stone houses dating from the early 17th century. It is located on the heritage coastline of the Solway Estuary, an area of unspoiled hills, cliffs, islands, bays and beaches known locally as the Scottish Riviera.

Often overlooked by visitors to Scotland in favour of the Highlands and Islands, the area has been described as 'Scotland in miniature' and has a great deal to offer walkers, cyclists, wildlife enthusiasts or those who just want to relax on a beach.

Auchencairn enjoys a particularly mild climate due to its coastal position and there is a lively and welcoming community that takes pride in the appearance and history of the village. Several craft and specialist businesses operate successfully here although it is predominantly a farming community.
