Visitsouthernscotland.com was originally conceived to offer
all tourism related businesses in Dumfries and Galloway and the
Scottish Borders a chance to promote their business online, cost
effectively. The philosophy behind the website assumes that
Southern Scotland is currently under-promoted and insufficiently
represented as a holiday destination. Visitsouthernscotland.com
is not only designed to attract more people to the region, but
also to educate and inform visitors on the quirky nooks and
crannies in the counties which may satisfy a week of sightseeing
or provide vital links in a genealogy.
Visitsouthernscotland.com was founded by Andrew Case, who has
worked in the local hotel industry for over 15 years. The
company employs local people to research local information and
communicate with local businesses. We work as closely as we can
with companies to ensure our entries are accurate and we work
hard to ensure we match visitor enquiries as closely as possible
with a suitable option on our database.
Whilst visitsouthernscotland.com is a website, it is run by
genuine human beings who can be reached by phone, fax, e-mail or
letter. If you’re really keen, you can also visit us in our
office! We’re a small team and we deal with our substantial
workload as quickly and efficiently as possible.
We encourage enquires from visitors and companies, and to date
have dealt with a wide range of queries, from a request for the
recipe for Drambuie Sauce to event details of a local fun run.
We have placed families, couples, groups and individuals into
youth hostels, bed and breakfasts, campsites and hotels, meeting
specific requirements for pets, children, vegetarians and even
snorers!
We also have a sister site called southernuplandway.com, which
promotes the 212 mile, long distance route: the Southern Upland
Way and a variety of short walks across the Southern Uplands.
Both websites also include information on the popular 7 Stanes
mountain biking project.
Visitsouthernscotland.com additionally features a marketplace,
where we sell a variety of local products from organic lamb,
smoked fish and local wine, to paintings, fake fur hats and
handmade shoes.
